This session (and the Birth + Newborn sessions that followed) was a Providential whirlwind. Esther contacted me one evening in mid-July and said “This is crazy, but I’m 38 weeks pregnant and really want to have this birth captured. Do you happen to be available…starting now…?” Her side of the story contains much more of the providence side. I’m hoping to post more of her side of the story soon!

On my end, first off, I LOVE THESE CALLS! I’m all about spontaneous. Second, I left after meeting Esther and her family a couple of days later feeling shocked at my luck (or well, God’s plan for our partnership). I had come to their home to meet them, see their birth space, and meet their children, and came away feeling like we had known each other for years. When she asked if I’d be willing to shoot a Maternity Lifestyle session before her delivery, my answer was a resounding YES!

Esther and Jonathan live on a little slice of heaven in Travelers Rest, SC. Their home is nestled on a slope of Paris Mountain and has a shady wooded barn-yard area for chickens, goats, and dogs, a large pond for fishing, and a mature orchard filled with flowering fruit trees. Their house is bright and airy, their children are joyful and loving, their doberman is humungous and smiley, and their animals are semi-free range and full of character. It was incredibly fun to capture a small moment in their life and, as a bonus, to get to meet all their sweet animals.

Remember, it’s never too late to ask if I’m free! Scheduling spontaneously doesn’t always pan out, but when it does it’s some of my favorite work. Thank you God for putting us together!
